Whoa, okay, so here’s the deal. “The Doom of K’aresh,” right? World of Warcraft just dropped this novella, and it’s kinda huge. Like, they’re telling this epic tale about the rise and fall of these Ethereals and Brokers. The story’s basically one guy, Locus-Walker, chatting with Alleria about all this chaos that went down on K’aresh, their home planet. And it’s setting up for this big Patch 11.2, called Ghosts of K’aresh.
So, picture this. The update’s gonna toss us right into K’aresh’s mystery-laden lap. There’s a whole history of this shattered world and, uh, there’s this villain — Dimensius, dubbed the All-Devouring. I mean, come on, how much more menacing can you get? The dude’s literally trying to munch on what’s left of the planet.
Also, side tangent but kinda awesome, July 15 apparently is a golden time for leveling up characters in the game. No idea why July 15 specifically, but you might wanna jot that down somewhere.
I should get back on track though… so, this novella (sorry, went off there for a sec), it’s by Adam Christopher and is totally free in both text and audio. Yeah, you can read or listen to it. They got Ray Porter narrating, and if you know him, you know he nails the vibe. It’s like you’re there, you know? The whole thing is a convo – a deep one – between Locus-Walker and Alleria, unfolding just before The War Within kicks off.
Breaking it down: the novella’s got three chapters. “The Voice from the Void,” yeah, that’s where K’aresh was still intact. Then, “The Devouring War,” where Dimensius shows up to cause trouble. The last bit, “Ethereum,” adds layers of mystery around how these Ethereals became living energy. Pretty dark stuff. Oh, and…
Characters, so many characters pop up! Some familiar, like Ky’veza, you know, the raid boss dude who’s gonna be Delves’ nemesis in WoW: The War Within Season 3—just thrown right into the mix.
Last bit of news, this story is a part of a bigger anthology called World of Warcraft: Crossroads that hits on November 11. It’s got other tales too like Thrall and Jaina’s “Heartlands,” Faerin’s “Faith & Flame,” and even “The Tipping Point” with Renzik “The Shiv.”
Heads up, Patch 11.2 hits August 5, and you’ll wanna squeeze in this story beforehand to get hyped. Plus, Manaforge Omega raid? Yeah, that opens August 12. What a ride it’s gonna be!
