Hey, so here’s the thing. EA, that big shot publisher, is like, finally pulling the plug on Anthem next year. Not kidding, January 12th, 2026, it’s done. They spilled the beans on their blog. No more buying that shiny virtual currency, but if you’ve got some lying around, hey, go wild—spend it.
They went all “heartfelt goodbye” mode, saying how much they appreciate our love and support. Kind of sweet, if you’re into corporate sentimentality.
And oh, by the way, they promised no one’s getting the boot because of this. Yet. I mean, who knows what tomorrow brings, right?
Here’s some backstory (if anyone cares): Anthem was supposed to be this massive, game-changing thing BioWare and EA threw together. Launched in 2019 and, well, kinda bombed. People weren’t thrilled. Behind-the-scenes chaos came out later, which, yeah, made sense given how it went.
BioWare tried doing the whole redemption arc thing later in 2019. They even had this grand plan called Anthem Next. Spoiler alert—it didn’t happen.
Anyway, that’s the latest. Can’t say I’ll miss it, but feels weirdly nostalgic. Or maybe just weird.
