Oh wow, Neat Corp’s got something cooking that’s, well, kinda like diving headfirst into the Norse myths. They’re the brains behind the wild Budget Cuts games, and now there’s this new thing… Crossings. Imagine flinging spells and swinging axes — all in some epic Norse afterlife adventure. Sounds bonkers, right?
This co-op roguelite — no idea what roguelite actually means, but it sounds cool — throws you into a world that never sits still. Every time you jump in, the place is like, totally different. And you’ve got to team up with these other souls who are lost like you. There’s no chit-chat, just blocking, dodging, and smacking trolls and draugr. Why is it always trolls, by the way? Do they want to make trolls a thing again?
Anyway… in Crossings, you’re gonna pick up these new spells—pointy, Viking-style weapons too. Think swords and axes, and oh, something called ‘Tooth of Nör’. Sounds like a dental nightmare, but hey, if it works…
Neat Corp paints this wild picture: You start out freezing your butt off in this weird no-man’s-land between life and death. You might’ve kicked the bucket physically, but your spirit? Fighting the good fight. The place is a head trip — always changing, never boring. You bump into other lost souls — in other words, people as confused as you — and it’s all about trust and movement. No yelling or screaming at each other, which is nice.
The fighting’s all sorts of intense — you’ve got to read your enemies. It’s like chess but with more swearing and axes. Trolls, draugr — classic stuff — but also creatures that seem fresh out of some storyteller’s fever dream. Every decision you make, it sticks. Like that burrito stain on your favorite shirt.
No launch date, curse the gods, but you can wishlist Crossings on the Horizon Store and Steam. Oh, wait, there’s more! There’s gonna be a demo during the Steam Next Fest from October 14th to 21st. It’s a solo slice of the bigger pie, so to speak. Try it out, see if it’s your jam.
Man, just talking about it makes me want to pick up an axe and start swinging. Or maybe just go back to bed. Choices, right?
