A while back, FromSoftware seemed all jazzed up after players kinda liked Elden Ring Nightreign. They even hinted at this nifty duos mode and something about beefing up fights with the Nightlords. Yeah, it sounded like gaming fun on steroids might be coming, but hold your horses—no duos just yet. But guess what? The first of those souped-up Nightlord fights just poofed into existence. Surprise!
I was all set to crash for the night after scribbling down notes on what seemed like just another minor patch. Nothing groundbreaking, I thought. Then bam! Real news just drops out of thin air while I snooze. Ah, the irony.
So, players woke up to discover a new boss crashing the party. FromSoft’s blog played the official announcer, explaining these bad boys are called Everdark Sovereigns. Tougher, meaner, uglier versions of Nightlords—like the bosses, but on a double shot of espresso.
Here’s the kicker: new Everdark Sovereigns will pop up each week, but only those valiant enough to smack down the original versions get to face the new ones. Kinda like an exclusive club, you know? Right now, it’s Sovereign of Gaping Jaws (Adel) running amok. Next week? Sentient Pest’s time to shine, followed by the Darkdrift Knight. Weekly chaos, basically.
They’ve got plans—cooking up more Sovereigns, like Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog. Excitement is brewing—or maybe just a storm. Who knows.
Oh, and next up, we’ve got an NPC in the mix. This fellow does a bunch of things. Beat the Sovereign Nightlords and collect Sovereign Sigils. Trade these for special relics and goodies. Bonus sigils for first-time victories—nice little incentive. Plus, this NPC lets you tweak Nightreign’s Shifting Earth or Map Events on command. Requires sigils too, though, so keep your stash full if you wanna skip the whole ‘defeat three Nightlords’ song and dance to move things along.
I’m betting there’s more hidden beneath the surface, just waiting for players to stumble upon while battling it out with these Nightlords on steroids. If you haven’t conquered them yet, maybe check out our handy weaknesses guide. Yeah, it’s useful. Goes well with a bit of preparation.
And hey, don’t fret. If you’re wandering around lost, our Elden Ring Nightreign guide is your trusty compass.
