Well, okay. So here’s the scoop — kinda jumbled, straight from my brain to you. Ready? Here goes nothing.
Picture this: Gears of War flick’s still kicking around at Netflix, and guess who’s calling the shots? David Leitch. Yeah, the same guy who whips out action movies like they’re hotcakes. Him and his wife, Kelly McCormick — it’s like a family affair or something. Oh, and The Coalition is in too, with all their Xbox-y vibes. I mean, can you even fit more action cred on one team? Atomic Blonde, Bullet Train… they gotta be doing something right, right?
Anyway, (or wait, was I going somewhere else with that?) Netflix and The Coalition teamed up back in November 2022. I remember it because — huh, why do I remember dates I wonder? — but yeah, they said live-action first, then an animated series. Kinda makes you think they’re going all out with this one.
Side note, Cliff Bleszinski (yeah, the Gears guy) spilled some tea on the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast. Something about a movie that never happened ’cause they wanted to slap a PG-13 on it. Classic Hollywood, huh?
Meanwhile, while all this movie razzle-dazzle’s going on, The Coalition’s hustling with more Gears of War games. Reloaded’s gonna drop in August 2025. A PlayStation debut, folks! Wild times.
A bit further down the road is Gears of War: E-Day (think “Emergence Day” with all that humanity vs. Locust drama). It’s like, you’d think they’d give us a breather, but nope — they just keep turning the gears (pun not intended, or maybe it was).
Also, Xbox adaptations are kinda having a moment. A Minecraft Movie crossed like $900 million at the box office, believe it or not. Did everyone secretly play Minecraft, or what? And don’t even get me started on the Fallout series — Season 2 is dropping in December. Feels like a whole Xbox universe is unfolding and we’re just here along for the ride.
And that’s the scoop, or at least the roundabout way my brain made sense of it. Who knows what’s next?
