In case you blinked or whatever, The Witcher 3 is like ten years old now. Crazy, right? So, everybody’s all nostalgic, replaying old games and whatnot. If the buzz about its anniversary has you itching to dive back in, there’s this new mod that’s kinda shaking things up for folks amped up about The Witcher Remake.
Honestly, how else could you shake up your Witcher experience than by dropping in a fresh skill system from an older Witcher game? It’s like comparing apples to, well, older apples. Sorry, that was lame. Moving on.
So, there’s this mod by someone called Gerwant30, who revamped the talent trees from the first Witcher for The Witcher 3. Fun fact: Gerwant30 snagged second place in some CD Projekt REDkit modding contest once, where they let people roam around Cintra or something. Pretty neat, right? Now they’re tweaking the first game’s skill system into TW3, aiming to hand you “way more control” over how Geralt evolves with, get this, “13 new talent trees and over 200 new skills.” Sounds like a big deal, yeah? According to Gerwant30, they’re hoping this makes the progression system more engaging and less cookie-cutter.
There’s also a rad video showing how you’ll earn bronze, silver, and gold talents through trees. You kick off scoring bronze early on and kind of earn your way over to silvers and golds as you level up, gradually evolving into a top-notch witcher. Smooth sailing, right?
Actually, there’s more than just strength and dexterity. The five Witcher signs have their own hefty skill trees with a deep focus, plus there’re four separate combat trees targeting “strong” and “fast” attacks with your trusty steel and silver blades. Strategy brain explosion!
Gerwant30 says your real power is how you craft your character. Skills, talents, and prep make you strong, while equipment stats kinda take a backseat. Tons to mess around with if you dig deep character builds. But hold your horses, because it’s still a beta, meaning some features are…a little rough around the edges.
Oh, heads-up: this mod is strictly for a fresh start in the vanilla Witcher 3. Existing saves or DLC solos won’t fly. Oh, and you’ll need another mod called SkylineR390’s ‘Alchemy’ to make the magic happen.
Gerwant30 also suggests trying out mods like PsychoCaki’s ‘SCAAR’ and a nifty camera mod by TheMenxceX and ElementaryLewis for a slick experience.
Do you dig the old-school style of the first Witcher more, or is TW3’s setup so familiar it’s practically home now? Just curious. If you have thoughts, drop them below!
