Alright, so here’s what happened with Assetto Corsa EVO, right? Earlier this year, it launched in early access, and let’s just say the VR mode wasn’t exactly winning any beauty contests. I mean, the optimization was… well, questionable at best. But hey, we all love a good underdog story, right?
So now, they’ve rolled out this 0.2 update, and I gotta say, it’s packed with goodies. I’m talking seven new cars—like the Maserati GT2! And there’s this Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 that makes you just wanna drive forever. Plus, they added two tracks: Circuit of the Americas, which sounds fancy, and Donington Park. I’ve got a vague memory of a rainy afternoon there, but that’s neither here nor there.
Now, let’s chat about gameplay. Turns out, there’s this ‘Open Mode’ where you can just play with all the cars. No holds barred. And then there’s a ‘Career Mode’ which, I guess, has some economy and progression stuff. Feels kinda like life, right? You gotta work your way up.
Anyway—or wait, was I talking about VR? Yeah, VR support is in “step two” now. Basically, it’s less of a headache for those with headsets. They’ve tweaked the graphics—oh, and added little things like idle-screensaver being off in VR. Small victories.
Also, you know how switching from screen to VR usually meant losing DLSS? Not anymore! It’s like no more tech fiddling every time you switch. And for the VR racers out there, if you’ve got a strong rig, the game’s finally somewhat decent. I mean, go check out some comparison videos and see how far it’s come.
What’s the future? Six more updates before they hit the big 1.0 in Fall 2025. Will it make VR worth 32 bucks? Who knows? Fingers crossed, I guess.
Oh, and there’s a roadmap image or something courtesy of KUNOS Simulazioni. Didn’t really look too hard at it. Anyway, catch you next update.
