Well, uh, so right after the 88th Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast, FF14 fans went on this social media frenzy. Why? ‘Cause apparently a hairstyle from the 2023 contest might pop up in the 7.3 update. They say it was sneakily hidden in a preview of some armor for this new alliance raid, San d’Oria: The Second Walk. Spotted by those eagle-eyed folks, of course.
Anyway, during this livestream thing — and I promise I’m not making this up — Naoki Yoshida, the main guy, said Patch 7.3, aka The Promise of Tomorrow (gotta love those names), would drop on August 5 post-server maintenance. It’s gonna wrap up the big Dawntrail story arc and maybe throw a few hints about future FF14 stuff. Oh, and besides the main story bit, they’ll also add the Pilgrim’s Traverse dungeon, some Yok Huy crafting quests, and a new Echoes of Vana’diel raid chapter. Busy times ahead!
On a different note—well, kinda the same note—on the FF14 subreddit, a user who goes by Pinkbunnies66 (not kidding) noticed this hairstyle mixed in with the new gear. They asked, all casual-like, if it was an accident. Other fans jumped in to say, “Hey, it’s one of the 2023 contest winners!” The entry had a medium-length style on a female miqo’te model, rocking the San d’Oria armor. A fun detail? The hairstyle’s highlights come from the inside, so players get a unique customization angle. Neat, right?
Switching gears—wait, no—back to the hairstyles. So, there was this hairstyle called A Half Times Two; they added it in Patch 7.15. Players could snag it with some Clouddark Demimateria II or just buy it with Gil. I mean, who doesn’t love choice?
Given how FF14 drops new hairstyles with major patches, it wouldn’t be wild to expect the 7.3 update to include one too. But, who knows? Guess we’ll just see if the new style makes it in Dawntrail’s big finale and how it’ll actually be obtainable. So many mysteries!
