The launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series has been far from smooth. It’s what many would call a ‘paper launch’. A lot of retailers didn’t receive even a single RTX 5090, and the few that did saw their stock disappear within mere minutes of the release. The RTX 5080 was slightly more accessible, but even it couldn’t escape the frenzy, selling out quickly and offering only marginal improvements over its predecessor.
If you’re on a quest to snag either of these cards, prepare for a wait. Overclockers UK has stopped taking pre-orders, leaving eager buyers unable even to join a queue. So, the pressing question is: when can we expect these GPUs to hit shelves again?
According to Overclockers UK, the RTX 5090 might restock anywhere from 3 to 16 weeks from now, while the RTX 5080 should be back in about 2 to 6 weeks. Assuming the longest wait, the RTX 5090 wouldn’t be available until just before mid-2025. By then, we expect both the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 to be out, with their releases slated for February 20th and March, respectively.
In a recent update from Overclockers UK, they clarified due to overwhelming demand paired with limited supply, all RTX 50 series cards flew off the shelves rapidly. While both are sold out with pre-orders on hold, the predicted restocks place the RTX 5090 ETA between 3-16 weeks, and the RTX 5080 ETA at 2-6 weeks.
There’s a glimpse of hope for the RTX 5080 reappearing sooner, perhaps in about a month. This card did see broader availability globally, but the stock didn’t meet the demand. Although it doesn’t quite measure up to the RTX 5090 in performance, its pricing comparable to the RTX 4080 drew substantial interest from consumers.
Excited buyers have gone to great lengths, with some camping outside stores and others opting into lotteries just for a chance to purchase one of these GPUs. If you ordered your RTX 50 from Overclockers UK and didn’t get a confirmation, your order could be languishing in pre-order limbo.
