Sure thing. Here’s my take on it:
Alright, so here’s the deal. No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES. That title alone is quite a mouthful, right? Anyway, this is supposedly the first game on the new Nintendo Switch 2. Yep, they just keep coming. So, what’s the game all about? Well, we dive right back into the story after that wild New Cyclops Serial Killings stuff. You’re this guy, Special Agent Kaname Date. Your mission? Save Iris Sagan—who’s known online as "A-set" (don’t ask me why)—from a UFO. Yeah, a UFO. Told you it was wild!
So Iris, or A-set, whatever, gets sucked into this alien thing and ends up in a freaky escape game called The Third Eye. There’s also this whole men-in-black storyline going on. Reminds me of No More Heroes… or maybe not. It’s all over the place, honestly.
Okay, let’s break down the game a bit. You got your Investigation, Escape, and Somnium segments. The Investigation parts? You’re basically snooping around, checking out what catches your eye. Use the sticks to move your cursor and camera—typical stuff, right? Date’s magic left eye helps you see more than the usual blurring mess too.
Then, there’s the Escape part. Self-explanatory, I guess. Puzzle your way out of places. Find clues hidden around—like, anything that looks remotely useful.
Visualize a dream world for the Somnium segments. You enter these bizarre, surreal dreams thanks to this thing called the Psync machine. Limited time here, folks! Six minutes to find clues in someone’s brain space. Sounds stressful? Maybe. You gotta unlock mental doors, which is just as trippy as it sounds.
Difficulty levels, because of course, right? For the Investigation and Somnium deals, choose from Story, Easy, or Standard. For Escapes, there’s even a Hard setting if you’re into suffering. Lots of timed challenges involved. Personally, I’d forget the Hard mode and just enjoy the ride. But, whatever floats your boat.
Voice acting’s solid, by the way. Greg Chun, Jackie Lastra, and other cool folks add some serious flair. Makes the storyline pop a bit more, if you ask me.
Now here’s a quirky bit. You earn these things called Eyes, and then spend them to get bonuses. Extra eyes for extra stuff. It’s somewhere between weird and addictive. Finish sections in record time, and you might get a bonus. Pretty nifty if you’re into collectibles.
Launches next week on July 25, tagged at $39.99! Get ready to dive back into the AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES universe on the Nintendo Switch 2—or 1 if you haven’t upgraded yet.
Final thoughts… Well, I’m not exactly sure what to think—this game’s chaotic energy is kinda mesmerizing. Maybe worth checking out just to see how crazy a UFO-getaway game can really be.
And that’s that—sort of.
(Disclaimer: Got my hands on this game thanks to Spike Chunsoft and played it on the Nintendo Switch 2. There you go.)
