Improved Performance of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch 2

Man, okay, so, the Switch 2. It’s out, right? And everyone’s buzzing like it’s the new iPhone or something. It’s wild. Anyway, this thing might just be the ultimate game machine if you’re into reliving those epic gaming moments, particularly with those hardcore Zelda fans. You remember Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, right? I mean, who doesn’t? Released back in ‘17 and just recently in ‘23. Magic in pixels, I swear. These games, they’re iconic, seriously. The Switch 2 makes them even more epic, somehow. Think buttery smooth loading times. No joke. We’re talking speed, not quite warp, but you get me.

So, we did some nerdy tests. Yep, five different ones, actually. Switched between the OLED and this new Switch 2. The new editions don’t just play better—they load better. Like, you hit start and bam! You’re in. And let’s face it, those pesky load times were always a buzzkill in the old versions. But now? It’s like they’ve been zapped into non-existence or something. Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but they’re chopped in half, if not more, especially in Tears of the Kingdom. Feels like the game finally got the green light it deserved. Blame optimization, perhaps.

Oh, the testing bit, yeah? So, booting up, loading saves, fast travel, all of that. Key player actions, huh? You don’t realize how much time you spend staring at a load screen until it’s cut in half. Basically, the Switch 2 is the Usain Bolt of gaming consoles when it comes to these titles. Not a big surprise, though. Breath of the Wild does well, but the newer kid on the block, Tears of the Kingdom, shines even more. Probably because someone finally cracked the optimization code. Big sigh of relief there.

And look, haven’t even scratched the surface with the older versions running on this new beast. Could be a revelation, or just more of the same. No clue yet. But honestly, who cares? The Switch 2 and its decked-out editions are where it’s at. Shell out that extra cash and you’re golden. Upgrade’s a bit pricey—an extra ten bucks per game, or you dive into Nintendo Switch Online with the Expansion thingy. But, hey, if it means plunging back into Hyrule like never before, might as well, right?
