Oh man, where do I even start with this one? You know how it is when you’re just casually tuning into PlayStation’s State of Play, cup of coffee in hand, maybe a cat purring beside you? And bam, they drop a bombshell: Nioh 3. Yeah, you heard right. Just plain ol’ Nioh 3, keeping it simple with the name but, oh boy, they’re shaking things up big time.
Mark your calendars or, you know, scratch it in your brain, because Nioh 2 is hitting us early 2026. Weird how time flies, or drags, depending on your mood, I guess.
Anyway, not to go on a tangent, but they hit us with the double whammy: this one ain’t just shacking up with PlayStation. Nope. It’s hopping the fence over to PC-land too – okay, it’s still on PS5, but you get the picture. And get this – there’s a demo, right now! But only for PS5 folks. Sorry, PC pals.
Speaking of the demo, classic move with an alpha going live. Historically Team Ninja loves a good beta drop, so don’t be too shocked if they sneak another demo out before the full release. But mark my messy notes – play it before June 18th.
If you’re a history buff, through and through, you’re in for a treat. We’re back in Japan’s Sengoku period. And there’s Tokugawa, a fresh character itching to be the next Shogun. Yokai? Oh yeah, they’re crashing the party right alongside human foes.
Quick detour here—heard the term “open field?” That’s what they’re calling it. Not quite “open world,” which is interesting. Maybe they got some feedback from that whole Rise of the Ronin gig. Critics, eh?
Look, even if trailers can be stingy with the real deets, they did spill some beans on combat. Think Samurai vs. Ninja – each with its vibe. Samurai sticks to the roots, but there’s this Arts Proficiency thing now. Sounds fancy, but it’s probably just a beefed-up martial arts deal. Oh, and Deflect, basically like “hello, parry.”
Ninja mode’s all speed and sky-bound action, now hosting those snazzy Ninjitsu moves. Imagine leaving a clone after landing a strike. Kind of like a shadow that’s late to the party.
In the grand scheme of things, this could be a game-changer for the series. Or maybe I’m just hyped. But hey, won’t know till we jump in headfirst, right?
