Review of The Operator on Nintendo Switch

Sure thing, hang tight. Here we go:

—

Ever stumbled into one of those quirky-yet-fascinating games? Yeah, me neither… until now. So, there’s this thing called The Operator from Bureau 81. Bit mysterious, right? It’s kind of like playing detective, except not really… cause you’re in an office, clicking madly at an FDI terminal. Oh, and you’re Evan Tanner — don’t ask me who came up with that name, I was just here for the mystery.

So, what’s the deal with this game? It’s all about solving crimes, but — wait for it — from the comfort of your desk. Yeah, forget about running after bad guys. You’re more… solving puzzles and squinting at tiny screens. Imagine combining CSI with too much coffee. Released last year on Steam, now it’s cozying up on the Nintendo Switch, cause who wouldn’t want crime-solving on the go?

Okay, picture this: you’re in a room (virtual, obviously) with a secure computer (spooky), and you’re supposed to help these field agents. Agents call you, which totally feels like a scene out of a spy movie — minus the cool gadgets. You verify secret stuff — kind of half-expecting James Bond to pop up. Anyway, you send them info, and poof, off they go to save the day. Or not. Who’s keeping track?

Playing on the Switch is… interesting. Joy-Con, touchscreen – pick your poison. Whichever you choose, it’s about tapping through screens, moving stuff around, and piecing together a puzzle. It’s kind of like doing a really chaotic jigsaw on a moving bus. Strangely satisfying. Oh, and those tiny letters? Hope your eyesight’s better than mine. It’s like trying to read through a keyhole. $13.99 for eystrain sounds oddly reasonable, right?

Apparently, there are databases for humans, cars — you name it. So interactive! And there’s this whole spiel about adjusting settings for sound and subtitles and… it sounds technical, but somehow, it all makes sense when you’re in the thick of it. Press this, highlight that, solve the puzzle (or not) — who knew gaming could be this office-like?

I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s fun if you like puzzles and mystery and don’t mind pretending to be in a secret bunker. Got this underground vibe, which is cool – if a bit nerdy. Anyway, give it a go. Maybe you’ll solve all the crimes? Or maybe just grow fond of clicking buttons. Whatever floats your boat.

Alas, here’s my disclosure bit: I got this game from Bureau 81. Do they know how to intrigue a person or what?
