Electronic Arts just hit the brakes on the World Rally Championship (WRC) games. Honestly, no clue why. They casually dropped this bombshell on their site without much of an explanation. It’s almost like they were saying, “Meh, we’re done for now—but hey, you can still snag EA Sports WRC if you’re keen.”
They threw a bit of reassurance out there—“Don’t worry, the game’s not going anywhere!” Maybe they thought we’d weep into our steering wheels? Who knows. “We poured our hearts into it,” they say. Sure, but it’s like, are we supposed to hope nothing changes or something? Anyway, passion. Yeah, they threw that word in. Standard stuff.
They reminisced a bit about a long road with Codemasters, like a trip down racing game memory lane. Codemasters and their off-road adventures, with classics like Colin McRae Rally and DiRT, were huge. Apparently, they’ve been the behind-the-scenes rally pit crew for decades. Sounds tiring, right?
But what’s up with this pause? Does it mean they’ll just ghost the WRC forever? Seems like it could go either way but who am I to say?
