Hey there, fellow gamers! I’m Oli, the brains behind the thrilling adventures at Kaizen Game Works, the studio responsible for the enigmatic Paradise Killer. Today, I’m beyond excited to share some big news with you—the demo for our latest project, “Promise Mascot Agency,” is officially live on PS5!
We’ve poured countless hours into crafting this unique experience, and our entire team can’t wait for PlayStation enthusiasts to dive in. Let’s get straight to it; the PS5 is phenomenal. Many of us at Kaizen have been die-hard PlayStation fans since the iconic days of the original PlayStation right through to the PS4. Personally, I have a collection of PlayStation and PS2 games that have been a treasure trove of inspiration during the development of Promise Mascot Agency.
Some of my all-time favorites include PS2 gems where you can just lounge around and immerse yourself in engaging worlds. If you’ve ever spent time with games like Way of the Samurai, Raw Danger, or Steambot Chronicles, you’ll know exactly what I mean! They allow you to meet quirky characters, make pivotal decisions, and explore at your own pace. Those are the vibes we’re aiming for—a captivating world filled with intriguing mysteries, eccentric personalities, and surprises at every turn.
In Promise Mascot Agency, you’ll step into the shoes of Michi, a disgraced yakuza lieutenant. Join forces with the unpredictable Pinky to rescue a struggling mascot agency and unravel the dark web of conspiracies that landed Michi in the peculiar, haunted town of Kaso-Machi. In this universe, mascots aren’t just symbols—they’re living beings, and the town is a haven for misfits seeking a fresh start. Michi’s mission is to rally a new crew of mascots, help them fulfill their dreams, and in doing so, salvage his own yakuza legacy back home.
Kaso-Machi’s vibrant yet eerie atmosphere is soaked in supernatural narratives. With spirits and deities playing in the shadows, Michi has his work cut out for him investigating ghostly apparitions, elusive “sin talismans,” and the legendary Tsuchinoko. The catch? A sinister curse threatening the life of any yakuza who sets foot in town looms large. Can Michi solve the riddle of the curse and save the mascot agency before it’s too late?
The journey to bringing this game to life began four years ago with the collaboration of Ikumi Nakamura and Mai Mattori, who helped shape the characters and settings. By blending our style with Nakamura-san’s unique touch, we’ve crafted a delightful, nostalgic game world. With a small yet spirited team, including talented Japanese artists, musicians, and creatives, everyone brought their own flair and experiences, adding a rich tapestry of cultural depth to our game.
Recently, we revealed some of our stellar voice cast, featuring industry legend Takaya Kuroda as Michi. To our delight, Kuroda-san surprised us by joining the auditions—teaming up with Ayano Shibuya’s Pinky, they form a dynamic duo echoing the classic buddy-cop genre. And to top it off, notable voices such as Shuhei Yoshida and SWERY are making their debut within our game.
Despite being a compact team, we’ve put our heart and soul into creating a sprawling, whimsical, 20-hour RPG adventure. We’re immensely proud to present it to you. Dive into the demo on PS5 and enjoy its interactive haptics, adaptive triggers, and the built-in speaker. We’re on the edge of sharing more news about the official release date soon. So gear up, keep your promises, and help these mascots achieve their dreams!
