3R Games recently announced some impressive numbers, revealing that their title, Thief Simulator VR: Greenview Street (2022), has sold over 310,000 copies exclusively on Quest. This news came through a post on X last week, highlighting that these sales span all supported Quest models, including the Quest 2, 3, 3S, and Pro. It’s worth noting that the game also has a presence on PSVR 2.
The studio clarified that these figures represent actual sales. At its standard price of $20 on the Quest store, this translates to a theoretical revenue ceiling of about $6.2 million. Of course, the game has often been available at discounted rates, occasionally dropping to $9 as it is currently. Despite this, the game’s overall earnings likely benefit significantly from its paid expansion packs, comfortably placing the revenue figures in the several-million range.
Thief Simulator VR: Greenview Street debuted in July 2022, delivering an engaging slice of the immersive break-and-enter gameplay that fans loved in the original flat-screen version of Thief Simulator from 2018, crafted by Noble Muffins.
Unlike Thief Simulator VR (2020), which GameBoom VR developed exclusively for PC VR systems, Greenview Street zeroes in on its titular neighborhood setting. Since its launch, 3R Games has enriched the experience with a series of paid DLCs. These include expansions like Richie R. Street, The Motel, and Spooky House, along with a variety of skin packs for customization. On Quest, there’s an all-inclusive bundle featuring the base game and all DLCs for just $23.
This strategic approach not only expands the game’s universe but also solidifies its standing as a popular choice among VR enthusiasts, capturing both seasoned gamers and newcomers to the virtual realm.
