Sony has unveiled its annual list of the top downloads across the PlayStation platforms for 2024. Given the limited shuffle among the top contenders on PSVR 2 since its initial release, it’s not shocking to see which titles have claimed the spotlight this year.
Now approaching its second anniversary, PSVR 2 has sparked varied opinions. Some argue the PS5-connected VR headset has been a bit overlooked since its launch in February 2023, primarily due to fewer exclusives and the kind of developer backing that the original PSVR enjoyed. However, dedicated fans would likely argue otherwise.
The PSVR 2 deserves recognition for its impressive capabilities. It raises the bar with enhanced rendering resolutions and stunning visual details, outshining even Meta’s popular Quest 3. Plus, with Sony’s release of a wired adapter in June, playing PC VR games has become seamless. But, when it comes to what players are actually choosing to download from the PlayStation Store, the numbers speak volumes.

It’s no surprise that Beat Saber (2018) reigns supreme in both North America and Europe. It’s often the go-to recommendation for newcomers to VR.
Of the recent releases, only a couple launched in 2024 made the list. Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening debuted in November 2024 and Urban Wolf Games’ Legendary Tales went live with its 1.0 release in February 2024 following an extensive Early Access stint on Steam.
Admittedly, Vertigo Games’ Arizona Sunshine 2 had its work cut out for it, arriving in December 2023 and leaving it with just under a month to make waves on the charts that year.
