Developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games have announced that a special version of the game is set to launch on the Quest platform this coming Spring.
This Quest-exclusive edition has been crafted specifically for the Meta Quest 3 and 3S. It’s a unique take on the beloved strategy series, allowing players to immerse themselves in building and managing their civilizations from a first-person perspective. You’ll get the chance to survey your empire from above, making use of both virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) modes.
Brought to life through a collaboration between PlaySide Studios and 2K, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR is set to deliver both solo adventures and competitive online multiplayer experiences. Up to four players can join the fray, all on Quest 3 and 3S devices, promising a fresh multiplayer experience right at your fingertips—or goggles, in this case.
One of the standout features of this VR adaptation is the dynamic portrayal of iconic world leaders. These historical figures come to life in a new way, engaging directly with players as you navigate alliances, negotiations, and even declare wars.
While a specific release date hasn’t been pinned down just yet, the game is slated for a Spring 2025 launch, as revealed at this weekend’s Civ World Summit.
