As the Xbox Series X/S continues to evolve, Microsoft’s gaming platform is steadily building a solid library of titles. Generally, consoles hit their stride in the latter stages of their lifecycle, once developers can fully commit to creating games that leverage the power of current hardware, leaving cross-generation titles behind. The Xbox Series X/S hasn’t completely reached that point yet, but it’s making steady progress in that direction.

The past few years have blessed us with a bounty of impressive games, especially in the open-world arena. In 2022, we saw some standout titles like Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, each offering their unique twist. Fast forward to this past year, and the trend continued with exciting releases like Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Remnant 2, Forza Motorsport, and Lies of P. But what new Xbox releases can we look forward to, particularly in 2024?

I should point out that we’re focusing on the North American release dates for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games, and you’ll even find expansions in the mix.

Updated on November 27, 2024: As we edge closer to the year’s end, the blitz of new game announcements has dialed down, especially those slated for 2024. Nevertheless, a handful of upcoming Xbox games have made their way onto the calendar, including titles like Railroads Online, Road Maintenance Simulator 2 – Winter Services, Hunting Simulator 3, and others like Glitch Hero, Penguin’s Road, Uncle Chop’s Rocket Shop, Love Too Easily, and Beat the Machine: Rebooted.

However, the marquee release this month has to be S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which made its grand entrance on Game Pass. Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones & More

While December isn’t typically overflowing with game releases, with most major titles debuting in the first couple of weeks, December 2024’s Xbox lineup isn’t bad at all. The excitement is largely fueled by Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Besides PC, it’ll be a temporary Xbox console exclusive, giving Game Pass subscribers a chance to dive into the iconic franchise’s long-awaited project. Although some critique the choice of a first-person perspective, it seems to align well with MachineGames’ expertise.

December also brings Marvel Rivals, poised to be the next big thing in the hero shooter landscape. While success isn’t guaranteed, the Marvel name could give it a significant boost. Additionally, gamers can look forward to Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered.

  • Arctic Awakening (XBX/S, XBO)
  • Corsairs – Battle of the Caribbean (XBX/S, XBO)

JRPG enthusiasts can rejoice at Tales of Graces f Remastered, which marks its first appearance on Xbox consoles. Notably, the game’s combat is highly regarded, ranking among the best in the genre. For a change of pace, Synduality: Echo of Ada offers a looter-shooter experience with a vibrant anime flair. Xbox Games Scheduled for February 2025

Avowed, Assassin’s Creed, Monster Hunter, Civilization & More

February 2025 is shaping up to be a standout month across all platforms. With the fiscal year wrapping up in March, developers often rush to get major titles out, resulting in a month saturated with big names. Sharing a launch day, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Civilization 7 are set to engage their distinct audiences, with both demanding serious dedication long past February.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also making its debut, aiming to capture imaginations with a Japan-themed narrative. Despite facing some developmental hurdles, it might just pull together. Additionally, Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered has the daunting task of updating some of the series’ more divisive entries, where a successful overhaul might breathe new life into Angel of Darkness.

With Avowed, Xbox is betting big on its February 2025 console exclusive. Obsidian’s RPG is slated to be its most ambitious project yet. Fans of Like a Dragon can anticipate an adventurous spin in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, while Monster Hunter Wilds is set to close out the busy month with a bang.

Major Xbox Games Slated for Post-February 2025 or Later

Kingdom Come, Elder Scrolls & More

The label "coming soon" is a flexible term, often leaving gamers guessing between months or even years. Certain anticipated releases like Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Control 2 remain in development, with fans anxiously awaiting any details on their eventual release.

Many intriguing titles will eventually make their way to Xbox Series X/S, though some have kept their cards close to the chest. Aspirations are high for projects like The Elder Scrolls 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Ark 2, but they might take a while to materialize. And these are just scratching the surface.

Planned releases for March and beyond include:

  • March 2025: Football Manager 25 (XBX/S)
  • March 4, 2025: Two Point Museum (XBX/S)
  • March 6, 2025: Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster (XBX/S, XBO)

  • March 21, 2025: Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land (XBX/S, XBO)
    And so on…

Rumored Xbox Games

The allure of the unknown is compelling. Even if a game hasn’t been officially unveiled, speculation stirs curiosity. Titles such as Gears 6 are bound to make an appearance eventually.

It’s crucial to view these rumors as just speculation, treating them lightly until official confirmation emerges.
